LET'S MAKE SUMMER A "SEASON OF PRAYER"

Our great creator designed seasons to offer a variety of changes. Summertime is so special with its disrupted schedules, family picnics, vacations, and heart warming patriotic celebrations.

I've been told that patriotic decorations are to be in place from Memorial Day until Labor day. If you should drive by my house, you would know that I adhere to that rule. My home has double doors displaying patriotic wreaths and a lamp post featuring a "welcome home" yellow ribbon for any of our brave military personnel who might drive by.

As the celebrations begin, and we watch our "Grand Old Flag" wave proudly in the summer breezes, let it be our solemn reminder to PRAY, ESPECIALLY FOR OUR TROOPS.

We have fellow Americans placed all around the world for the purpose of our safety and well being. Some are now stationed in the Middle East where temperatures soar way past the 100 degree mark. This heat must be endured under many layers of clothing and protective gear.

I would like to invite you to join me for a SUMMER SEASON OF PRAYER for our nation. Let's pray for war to cease, for our troops, for the November election. The Scripture states that "righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people".

Let's pray for true revival to come to America. The Bible plainly tells us, "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and TURN from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. America needs healing, prayer is the remedy.

Remembering Rev. R.A. McClure. . . My Dad

My Dad has been in heaven since December 1970. When he left this world for a better one, his pain-wracked, 85 pound body had been ravaged by more than 60 "cobalt" treatments. The medical world has since found that this is no longer a good idea. Whatever the reason, I felt that he left us much to soon.

As I was growing up, he was a pioneer in Christian Radio and also pastored churches in Colorado and Missouri. He bought musical instruments for each of us, encouraged excellence, and placed us on church platforms and in front of radio microphones as our blossoming talents permitted. How amazed he would be to see the expansion of his musical family. His children and grandchildren make up a combination of professional, singers, instrumentalists, and worship leaders. His great, great grandchildren are just learning the melody and lyrics of JESUS LOVES ME.

"Come in, we're going to read and pray" was his daily call to come to our family altar. He would read a few scriptures and then we would kneel and pray together. Through the years, I have and continue to reap the benefit of his consistent prayers.

As he lay dying, I would try to keep him talking, especially about his youth and childhood. one of the last things he said to me was "I was a farm boy from Missouri with no real future, but Jesus saved me, and it's the best thing that ever happened to me!"

Daddy had no money to leave me, he left me something so much better, as a matter of fact..........................he left something that money cannot buy.

God's Economy vs. U.S. Economy

I have been learning, and I'm certain it's true, that newspapers are becoming obsolete. Even I, (a grandmother) check the news on the "web" several times each day, but I still enjoy sitting down to read a real newspaper with my first cup of tea each morning.

Newspapers nortoriously choose bad, negative news for the headlines. "Housing prices continue to fall", "car sales down 16%", etc. When I read those depressing words, I think of a song Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote several years ago. Do you agree that these words fit our situation today?

"I have noticed in the paper all the bad news, It seems things are getting bleaker every day,
But for this child of God it makes no difference, cause things are bound to get better either
way.
I have never been more thrilled about tomorrow, sunshine's always bursting through the
skies of gray.
I just feel that something good is about to happen - and brother it could be this very day."

This is the time to trust in the Lord. Ask Him for new ways to create more income. Remember HE is the "creator".

'TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART. He NEVER fails.

When I fill the tank of my car, or purchase produce at the super market, and just CAN'T BELIEVE THE SKYROCKETING PRICES. . . I remind myself:

GOD'S ECONOMY IS NOT THE U.S. ECONOMY

He will see me through.
