Remembering Rev. R.A. McClure. . . My Dad

My Dad has been in heaven since December 1970. When he left this world for a better one, his pain-wracked, 85 pound body had been ravaged by more than 60 "cobalt" treatments. The medical world has since found that this is no longer a good idea. Whatever the reason, I felt that he left us much to soon.

As I was growing up, he was a pioneer in Christian Radio and also pastored churches in Colorado and Missouri. He bought musical instruments for each of us, encouraged excellence, and placed us on church platforms and in front of radio microphones as our blossoming talents permitted. How amazed he would be to see the expansion of his musical family. His children and grandchildren make up a combination of professional, singers, instrumentalists, and worship leaders. His great, great grandchildren are just learning the melody and lyrics of JESUS LOVES ME.

"Come in, we're going to read and pray" was his daily call to come to our family altar. He would read a few scriptures and then we would kneel and pray together. Through the years, I have and continue to reap the benefit of his consistent prayers.

As he lay dying, I would try to keep him talking, especially about his youth and childhood. one of the last things he said to me was "I was a farm boy from Missouri with no real future, but Jesus saved me, and it's the best thing that ever happened to me!"

Daddy had no money to leave me, he left me something so much better, as a matter of fact..........................he left something that money cannot buy.
